First Visit To The Dentist!
Having your first baby is an exciting time. Every experience is brand new, so once your baby starts to grow there are many things one needs to know, especially concerning a baby’s tooth.
Girls usually develop faster than boys but the first tooth usually appear around six months old, then every six months a pair of teeth will erupt. At two to three years old your child will have a full set of baby teeth, approximately 20.
Once your child reaches one year old it’s time for his first dental appointment with a Pedodontist, children’s dentist, or your own general dentist if they treat children. These first visits are important because baby teeth do affect permanent ones which develop right underneath.
The dentist will check that teeth are being brushed and clean properly. He or she will also advise you on how to handle thumb and lip sucking, proper food intake especially sweets and the development of teeth and jaw structure.
Since your child will be visiting the dentist a couple of times a year make sure you choose a dentist you like and are comfortable with. Give positive reinforcement to your child about the dentist and make the trip exciting so that he or she will enjoy the first visit to the dentist.
