Fitness Tips and Trends To Try At Home
With Winter weather loosening its grip, the warm weather of Spring and Summer is upon us. Now is the perfect time to start getting fit and ready for the Summer. Honestly, you can’t expect to be Mr. or Miss Olympia within this short period of time, but you can make dramatic improvements on your physique or figure. With gym prices growing and being overcrowded; training at home has become the new norm. With home training you don’t have to worry about being judged on your look or what exercises you do, unlike the gym. Home training has more versatility which saves you on time and money.
Getting Started
A spare room, shed, or patio can be used for your gym and all you need is some basic equipment to get started. No matter how much time you spend training, dieting has to be implemented as well. It should be a 50/50 split between the two. Although you can make gains from one while lacking in the other; putting the same amount of effort is best for making the fastest transformation process. Products you’ll need to get started includes:
- Dumbbells: Either adjustable or standard-solid ones gives you plenty of variety. Dumbbells can be used for arm curls, squats, dead-lifts, triceps training, back, shoulders, and lunges. This inexpensive product is a staple for any home gym.
- Bench: Gives you the ability to do a wide range of exercises and provides a stable platform to perform the training on. Bench presses, arm dips, and abs can all be trained with this.
- Ankle Weights: Are great for leg exercises such as kick-backs, leg extensions/curls, or just for walking. Burning calories becomes easy if you take walks or jog with these also.
- Weights: Try purchasing weights and bars together as a set, which will help you save money than buying them separately. Weights provides resistance which helps build muscle faster while losing weight.
Diet
Cleaner eating is a must. What’s the point of building muscle if it’s covered in a layer of fat. Men/women store fat differently and for men, it’s stored mostly in the stomach, while women stores fat around the hips & butt. You have to burn more calories than you’re taken in if not; you’re just spinning your wheels in-place. Here are some cleaner high-protein foods:
- Boiled Eggs
- Lean Beef, Turkey, and Chicken
- Skinless Chicken
- Fruits & veggies
- Protein Drinks/Powders
- Water
- Salmon
- Sardines
- Fat-Free Yogurt
- Nuts
Exercise Tips and Trends
- Calisthenics lets you use your own body weight while training. Want to get a good pump? Calisthenics are numero uno.
- Walk/Run on beach sand. The soft sand strengthens and tones leg muscles.
- Super Sets let’s you train two opposing muscle groups back-to-back for each set. Example: Biceps curls and Triceps kick-back.
- HIIT (High-intensity interval training). This full body high-intensity workout trains the entire body. Example: Body weight squats 10 reps followed by 10 sit-ups followed by 10 shoulder presses. Complete all 30 reps with no rest in-between counts as one set.
