A long time ago men hardly ever went to the dentist. There were many reasons or excuses for this including they didn’t need to see one or that they didn’t have enough time to wait for a dental visit. Even worse, since many men didn’t go to a regular dentist, just imagine the plaque and tartar buildup around the teeth and gums. This meant that a lot of guys were either embarrassed or too afraid to go. They thought there would be a lot of humiliation once they enter the dentist office. But over the last 10 years or so, there have been big changes in the oral health industry! Now there electric toothbrushes made by companies like Proctor & Gamble, who owns ORAL-B, and Koninklijke Philips, maker of the Philips Sonic toothbrush. Water Pik, Inc, a company that also sells health products came out with a water flosser called Waterpik, which basically uses high water pressure to floss in between your teeth to prevent plaque and keep the gums healthy! It’s actually a good substitute for regular old dental floss if used correctly.
Oral health is actually better now than the last 20 years so it makes more sense for men to go to a dentist and get their teeth and gums checked! We are starting to notice that more men are going to the dentist to improve their smiles! There have been great advances in the field of dentistry involving dental procedures such as bleaching, bonding and of course composite resins (white fillings) to match the teeth and improve your overall smile. Men are even starting to take notice of the crowns and bridgework that can correct their bite. There are other dental appliances that the dentist can recommend to improve smiles. So let’s do the manly thing and start visiting the dentist! Taking care of one’s teeth can help a person realize that the overall benefit of a nice smile will be a positive effect on everyone they encounter!
