Finally proof to validate how we feel about everyone’s favorite cookie.

If you are one of those who love to munch on Oreo cookies, it is not your fault. A new study in college revealed Oreo is a favorite dessert and it is as addictive as drug according to the experiment.

The study in Connecticut College by students revealed the rats formed a strong connection with Oreo as much as he other rats who were given morphine or cocaine.

In addition, researchers also found that the neurons were more activated in the “pleasure centers” of the brain in the cookie eating rats than drug injected rats.

“Our study strengthens the hypothesis of high-sugar foods and high-fat foods stimulating the reactions the way drugs do”, said Joseph Schroeder, a Neuroscience Professor. “It explains the reason why many people can’t get off those foods even when they know it is not good for their health.”

“Our research supports the theory that high-fat/ high sugar foods stimulate the brain in the same way that drugs do,” Neuroscience Professor Joseph Schroeder said in a school press release. “It may explain why some people can’t resist these foods despite the fact that they know they are bad for them.”

The student who conducted the study want to research on how the addictive foods is the source of obesity in many communities and the results are amusing.

Jamie Honohun told, “The affordability and accessibility of these foods create more health hazards as they are not good for health.” Surprised with the rats behavior of eating Oreos, he mentioned, “I was surprised when the rats broke open it and ate the middle first.”
