The Best Feel-Good Holiday Movies| National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

A perfect example of how stressful the holidays can be, this movie is hilarious as we witness Chevy Chase attempt to achieve holiday perfection! If you’re ever stressed out during the holiday season, watch this movie – it’s a d-stressor in itself. A remake of the movie is currently in the works. It may not be the same as the classic, but it’s sure to leave you with a stomach aching of laughter.

The Best Feel-Good Holiday Movies | Home Alone

Home Alone

My Favorite Holiday Movie since it first came out in 1990 is “Home Alone” with Macauley Caulkin as Kevin McAllister. The 8 year old spoiled  brat is mistakenly left alone on Christmas while his family heads to the airport and out of town for a holiday vacation! It’s a funny holiday movie with fun pranks to the villains as well as sadness and love and a happy ending for Kevin! The day the entire family is to fly to Paris, everyone oversleeps and ends up rushing to the airport to catch the flight. In the ensuing chaos, one of the boys, Kevin, was forgotten by his parents. When he wakes up, he finds that he’s all alone and celebrates his freedom. Until that is, 2 bumbling thieves try to break into the house. Kevin sets upbooby traps to keep the thieves out of his house which leads to many hilarious situations. One of the most famous scenes of the movie happens after Kevin is finished taking a shower, he decides to shave his face like his dad and puts on aftershave. It turns out that he has sensitive skin and the aftershave stings his face leading to that famous scene.

The Best Feel-Good Holiday Movies | Bad Santa

Bad Santa

Raunchy with a big hart, this movie covers the story of an alcoholic safe-cracker who works as a shopping mall Santa to steal money from the mall on Christmas Eve. The concept of the movie is simple and the script is well written with well-developed characters brought to live by some amazing performances. If you are a cynic, this is the movie for you – it will make you laugh and warm your cold hart.  “Happy Christmas”

The Best Feel-Good Holiday Movies | Die Hard

Die Hard

Who’s not a sucker for a good action movie?  That’s why “Die Hard” comes second to none as a favorite holiday movie. This movie focuses less on the snowy, cheerful holiday vibe and adds a little suspense to the Christmas spirit. “Die Hard” is the perfect Christmas movie because behind all the action sequences (and there are a lot) there’s front to back Christmas imagery. Try rewatching the film and count how many Christmas trees are in the movie. Most are tiny, but they’re all fully lit and totally cinematic.

There’s a scene set in the Los Angeles police station dispatch room; there are decorations all around the building, and the movie is one of the few to truthfully recreate the drunken, sloppy, under-the-mistletoe flirtatiousness of a work Christmas party. At one point McClane (main character played by Bruce Willis) uses these decorations to taunts the thieves by sending a corpse down the elevator wearing a Santa hat.

It may not be the quintessential Christmas movie, but if you like action, humor and a little bit of suspense ( sprinkled with snow on top), then Die Hard is the holiday movie for you.

The Best Feel-Good Holiday Movies| Santa Clause

The Santa Clause (1994)
This movie was made 21 years ago but no doubt another favorite Christmas movie. It’s a festive comedy about at ordinary man who has to take on Santa’s duties after an accident. Santa, played by Tim Allen, soon finds himself in the North Pole and at one point, physically,  turns into Santa in front of his disbelieving ex-wife. This movie is entertaining and funny – it’s one of those movies that you can’t take your eyes off. It keeps you entertained from beginning to end.
