October 7, 2016 marks the 17th anniversary of World Smile Day®. On this day, people worldwide celebrate the smiley face designed by an artist named Harvey Ball, who died on April 12, 2001.

Ever since the introduction of the smiley face, the icon has become one of the most renowned symbol for good cheer as well as good will across the planet. Harvey had a mission to devote a single day annually to focus on spreading good acts and smiles throughout the world and so organizers made that possible with the introduction of World Smile Day.

Ways to Participate in the World Smile Day®.

In honor of World Smile Day, for the second year in a row DentalSave intends to raise money to bring more smiles to the world as they partner with Smile Train, an international children’s charity that provides 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care to children in 85+ developing countries. This special promotion between October 1st and October 15, 2016. We’ll donate $2 for every renewal using the promocode WSD16 and give the member a 20% off just for using the code.

Here are some other ways you can take part in World Smile Day® this year:

  • Take a video and share on social media using the twitter handle #WorldSmileDay and tag World Smile Day on Facebook.
  • Organize a smiley face event with your family and friends such as a pie-eating contest.
  • Perform an act of affection to a random stranger and make them smile.
  • Try being a World Smile Ambassador through downloading stickers and posters to make people smile all day long.
  • Post notices at the office or at home encouraging people to smile.
  • Raise money to support cleft palate surgery to help kids throughout the world survive and thrive.

That being said and done, let us make this 7th October 2016, a real World Smile Day® in our area.
