Snack On These Foods To Protect Your Teeth

We’ve all been warned about foods and drinks like candy and soda that are bad for our teeth. We all should also keep in mind that there are foods and drinks that we should be eating – not just because they’re healthy, but because they’re ideal for our chompers too!

Water

As simple as it sounds, water is good for teeth because it rinses out particles around the mouth and also provides moisture especially when you experience dry mouth.  Most states still provide fluoride in drinking water which protects teeth from cavities. In fact, New York City drinking water is world-renowned for its quality.

Cheese!

Cheese is fantastic for the mouth and teeth because cheese has Vitamin D and calcium. They’re alkaline, not acidic so it helps balance the PH in your lips.  Finally, cheese has antibacterial properties that help to fight against tooth decay.  Doesn’t matter the type of cheese either, they all have the same effect on the mouth!

Nuts

Nuts are the perfect PH restorer for your mouth as well.  Cashews and almonds are excellent examples.  They are ideal for cleansing the mouth.  They can act as mild abrasive against your teeth and scrape off any plaques that are on the surface of your teeth.  A word of caution: We recommend using the nutcracker for nuts that are in a shell like walnuts are Brazil nuts.  Using your teeth will do plenty of damage to them!

Sugar-Free Gum

Finally, let’s say you do not have any of these foods handy after you have just eaten a meal.  You can always chew on sugar-free gums.  They’re perfect because they remove all types of food particles between your teeth plus it promotes saliva production which in turn protects your tooth enamel thereby preventing tooth decay and gum disease! If you can find gum with Xylitol – even better.
