Summer Activities, NYC Style

We’re thrilled that summer’s here. It happens to the most of us – summer rolls around, and you make awesome plans for picnics, concerts, and cold drinks on a rooftop. Then fall comes along, and you haven’t done any of it. So here’s to being proactive. Here’s a look at some NYC summer activities to do with the family.

Celebrate Brooklyn

• Events all summer long at the Prospect Park Bandshell area.
• The range of performing arts, concerts this summer include Damien Rice and Willie Nelson.
• Free and paid benefit events.
• Proceeds go to providing free programming for NYC residents and visitors.
• Memberships and donations are tax deductible.

NY Philharmonic, Concerts in the Parks

• City-wide tour each spring, for a schedule, check here.
• All concerts are free.
• Fireworks display.
• Take part in the memory project, by submitting your favorite experiences at the concerts.

West Indian Parade and Caribbean Carnival

• Multiple day events over Labor Day weekend, for more information see here.
• A celebration of West Caribbean arts and culture.
• Thousands of costumed marchers and exhilarating musical performances.
• Attendance is in the millions!

Summer Streets

• Three Saturdays in August of completely open streets
• Seven miles of vehicle-free space on Park Ave and Lafayette St.
